What it's like to sit with Christina

Christina Morris (she/her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Texas. She has experience working in university and outpatient private practice treating adults, couples, families, and groups.

Christina enjoys working with adults who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, perfectionism, self-doubt, or the pressure to meet impossible expectations. Many of her clients are high-achieving individuals who outwardly appear successful but internally feel exhausted, stuck, or disconnected from what truly matters. She also enjoys working with clients who appreciate exploring the ways culture, family, relationships, and personal experiences shape their lives—and who don't mind a little humor along the way.

Clients often describe Christina as collaborative, practical, and compassionate. She creates a warm, authentic environment where people feel understood while also being challenged to grow. Rather than simply offering a place to talk, Christina believes therapy should provide meaningful insight and practical tools that clients can apply in their everyday lives.

Her style blends evidence-based treatment with relatable conversation. Christina frequently incorporates psychoeducation, helping clients better understand why they think, feel, and behave the way they do. She brings clinical concepts to life through metaphors, humor, and everyday examples, making therapy both approachable and engaging. Every treatment plan is individualized, recognizing that no two clients—or their goals—are exactly alike.

Christina draws from several evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), sex therapy, and Gottman-informed couples therapy. Together with her clients, she works to strengthen emotional regulation, improve communication, reduce anxiety, and create lasting behavioral change that aligns with each person's unique values.

Areas of Focus — Christina has a special interest in helping individuals and couples navigate: anxiety disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD); perfectionism, guilt, and chronic self-criticism; relationship concerns and communication; premarital counseling for couples of all gender identities and sexual orientations; eating disorders, including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and ARFID; body image concerns and developing a healthier relationship with food and exercise; and stress related to careers or education in the performing arts.

She provides secular, science-based premarital counseling that helps couples build strong communication skills, navigate important relationship conversations, and establish a healthy foundation for marriage. Her expertise in relationships also supports individuals seeking healthier connections with partners, family members, friends, or themselves.

As a classically trained musician, Christina also understands the unique pressures faced by performers, artists, and students pursuing careers in the performing arts. She enjoys helping clients manage perfectionism, performance anxiety, career stress, and life transitions within creative fields.

Outside the Office — When she's not meeting with clients, Christina enjoys trying new recipes, tackling DIY home projects (whether or not they're ever finished), reading popular fiction, and spending time with her husband, daughter, and rescue dog, Teddy.
