Therapeutic Approach
Sometimes life sucks. It can be hard to see the options right in front of us when we feel overwhelmed, exhausted, or alone. That’s where therapy comes in—helping clients see possibilities previously out of focus. I experienced this first-hand in my own life. For many years, I struggled with anxiety, stress, and increasing burnout at work. I felt lost, unsure if things would ever get better. The truth is I was stuck and needed help. In therapy, I confronted fear and self-doubt and discovered my desire to become a therapist. I changed jobs and ventured down a new professional path.
I use an experiential and psychodynamic approach to therapy. I believe that change looks different for everyone. My work focuses on helping clients gain clarity and self-assuredness about what to do when it comes to complicated relationships, challenging situations, and difficult decisions. I have a warm, non-judgmental approach, but I challenge my clients as we work through issues collaboratively and compassionately. Confronting our “stuff” is hard, but you don’t have to do it alone. I aim to provide a safe and inclusive space to explore things swept under the rug. My goal as your therapist is to side with the part of you that wants things to change.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist trained in working with individuals, couples, and families from a systemic lens. I received my B.A. in Linguistics and Psychology from Iowa State University and my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. I completed my clinical training at Irving Family Advocacy Center, where I provided trauma-informed counseling services for adults, couples, and families.
