About Allison

Allison Cornelius (she/her), is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) at Addison Therapy Associates, under the supervision of Dr. Wendy Bates of ATA and Dr. Melissa Gaa, LPC-S, TIYT.

Allison is known for her warm and compassionate approach to therapy, specializing in working with individuals, couples and families who have experienced complex trauma, grief and loss and difficulties within close relationships. Understanding the profound impact that trauma can have on one's life, she is committed to providing a safe and nurturing space where healing can begin. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in empathy and respect, honoring your unique journey, and fostering a sense of empowerment. She believes that you already have the gifts within you which are needed to heal and thrive and is honored to walk alongside you, cheer you on and support you every step of the way.

Her clinical interests include trauma, complex PTSD, dissociation, relational patterns, issues of self-worth and anxiety. Allison promotes personal growth by meeting you where you are. She believes deeply in collaboration as the cornerstone of her therapeutic philosophy, working together to foster deep and meaningful change.

To ensure that your treatment plan is tailored specifically to you, Allison integrates a diverse range of therapeutic modalities into her practice, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Somatic Therapy, Trauma Model Therapy, and art and music therapy. She endeavors to foster a trusting and transparent relationship, where both therapist and client work together to explore insights and create a toolkit that is as one-of-a-kind as you.

Outside of the therapy room, Allison thrives on a vibrant mix of passions. Whenever she's not guiding clients towards growth and healing, you'll find her fully immersed in the pages of a good book, meditating, rock climbing, spending time in nature, playing the keys in her family band ‘Rowdy Tuesday’ or channeling her creativity through painting. Allison believes in the power of these self-care pursuits to recharge her spirit and bring balance to her life, ensuring she's ready to support you on your path to wellness.

Allison is currently accepting new clients, both in person and via telehealth, and accepts various insurance panels including Aetna, BCBS, Meritain, Optum, Scott and White, and UHC under the ATA group contract. Email acornelius@AddisonTherapy.com to schedule directly with Allison.
